In the 1990s, the Buddhist Seminary in Lam Dong Province, Vietnam, where I was teaching, received some educational supports by Ven. Minh-Quang. I have also used his translated book, The Stories and Commentary on the Dharmapada Sutra, to teach the Sangha for many years. Therefore, I have a good impression of him as a young and able Buddhist monk, who sets his mind on the cause of Buddhist education. 

     Then many years later, I met him again in the United States. Now, I realize his aspiration and contribution to the cause of Buddhist education have become much greater. He has a dream of a young generation of virtuous and able Buddhist monks and nuns, who are educated and trained based on the appreciation of the Vietnamese Buddhist tradition and on the gratitude to our Dharma Patriarchs. Our Dharma patriarchs have set up the noble tradition and transmitted the Dharma lamp from the past until now. I think Buddhist monks and nuns should be trained and educated in such a way, so they can fulfill a life of pure conducts, insight, and spiritual realization. With such fulfillment, they deserve to wear the robe of the Tathāgata, and deserve to receive the material and spiritual support from the Triple Gems.

     After reading the two books, I realize his maturity in terms intellectuality and his fervent heart for the cause of the Dharma through the vigor of his style in literary composition. Therefore, I respect and love him more. Also, I deeply empathize with what hehas done for the cause of Buddhist culture. I am sure that with his ability, aspiration, solid knowledge of Buddhist studies and deep realization of Buddha-Dharma, he will contribute to a greater extent for the cause of Sangha education and to the growing body of Buddhist literature in both the Vietnamese and English languages.
